Jayasuriya sets record in SL vs. India

Sanath Jayasuriya became the oldest player to score a century in one-day international cricket Wednesday as Sri Lanka scored 246-7 batting first in the series opener against India.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni sent the visitors in, anticipating assistance for his seam bowlers at Rangiri Dambulla Stadium, but Jayasuriya prevented them making early inroads.

Jayasuriya (107), at 39 years and 212 days, took the record for the oldest player to score a century in ODI from former England captain Geoff Boycott, who scored a hundred aged 39 years and 51 days.
